Grace and Sin

"What Then? Shall We Sin Because We Are Not Under Law But Grace? May it Never be!" Romans 6:15

But, isn't that exactly what so many "Christians" are doing? Willfully sinning and saying they are covered by Grace? Is it really the Grace of God that allows one to keep on sinning as a "Christian"? If so, then why did Paul say, may it never be? Why are there countless warnings about God's judgment to the churches if it was ok to practice sin as a believer? Why did the apostles waste all that ink writing about those warnings to the churches if there was no danger? Isn't it possible that God's grace and been changed to deceive today's Christian?

TIT 2:11,12 For the grace of God has appeared, bringing salvation to all men, instructing us to deny ungodliness and worldly desires and to live sensibly, righteously and godly in the present age – in other words, grace is telling us to do deny ourselves of sin and it is not covering up willful sin. Notice, it said the grace of God, not the grace of man or the grace of any denomination but the grace of God! God's grace always tells us to turn from sin, to forsake sin, to repent of sin, to deny ourselves of sin, to hate sin, to refuse sin, etc. Not only is the grace of God telling us to do something about sin, but also that it is not acceptable for a believer to practice sin.

ROM 6:12-15 Therefore do not let sin reign in your mortal body that you should obey its lusts, and do notgo on presenting the members of your body to sin as instruments of unrighteousness; but present yourselves to God as those alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness to God. For sin shall not be master over you, for you are not under law, but under grace. What then? Shall we sin because we are not under law but under grace? May it never be! Again, the grace of God is telling us to do something, to refuse to go on intentionally committing sin. The grace of God is telling us to avoid sin, to refuse sin, to forsake sin, to deny ourselves of sin and that it is not acceptable for us to continue in sin!

Some say that if you have obey God or do anything like what the grace of God is telling you to do, that you are trying to be saved by "works". So what does the scriptures say about that? ROM 3:19, 20 & 27, 28 Now we know that whatever the Law says, it speaks to those who are under the Law, that every mouth may be closed, and all the world may become accountable to God; because by the works of the Law no flesh will be justified in His sight; for through the Law comes the knowledge of sin. Where then is boasting? It is excluded. By what kind of law? Of works? No, but by a law of faith. For we maintain that a man is justified by faith apart from works of the Law. So is obeying God or doing what the grace of God is telling us to do concerning sin really trying to be saved by the works of the law? Aren't the works of the law all about making this or that sacrifice on this or that day at this or that temple? Isn't it really all about observing religious ceremonies or keeping certain rituals or keeping certain feasts on certain days? The works of the law are all about the ordinances, rituals and ceremonies that had to be kept under the law. So what has the "works" of the law got to do with obeying God in this age or listening to what grace is telling us to do concerning sin and righteousness?

In verse 27, he said it was a law of faith, not of works (of the law). So what is faith? Some think it is just mentally believing in Jesus, but what does the scriptures say? JAM 2:17-20, 24, 26 Even so faith, if it has no works, is dead, being by itself. But someone may well say, "You have faith, and I have works; show me your faith without the works, and I will show you my faith by my works." You believe that God is one. You do well; the demons also believe, and shudder. But are you willing to recognize, you foolish fellow, that faith without works is useless? You see that a man is justified by works, and not by faith alone. For just as the body without the spirit is dead, so also faith without works is dead. Obviously, James is not talking about the works of the law, but obedience and doing the will of God, which is to stop practicing sin.

HEB 10:26-31 For if we (believers) go on sinning willfully after receiving the knowledge of the truth, there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins, but a certain terrifying expectation of judgment, and the fury of a fire which will consume the adversaries. Anyone who has set aside the Law of Moses dies without mercy on the testimony of two or three witnesses. How much severer punishment do you think he will deserve who has trampled under foot the Son of God, and has regarded as unclean the blood of the covenant by which he was sanctified, and has insulted the Spirit of grace? For we know Him who said, "Vengeance is Mine, I will repay." And again, "The Lord will judge His people." It is a terrifying thing to fall into the hands of the living God. It certainly is if you are not obeying the grace of God!

1JO 2:3-5 And by this we know that we have come to know Him, IF we keep His commandments. The one who says, "I have come to know Him," and does not keep His commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him; but whoever keeps His word, in him the love of God has truly been perfected. By this we know that we are in Him: So, it is by obeying Him that you know you are in Him, not by some mental faith of acceptance about Him.

JUD 1:4 For certain persons have crept in unnoticed, those who were long beforehand marked out for this condemnation, ungodly persons who turn the grace of our God into licentiousness (license to sin) and deny our only Master and Lord, Jesus Christ. It is obvious today that many certain persons have turned the grace of God into a license to practice sin. Which grace do you have, the grace of man that excuses sin or the grace of God that tells you to turn away from sin so you may be saved in the end? Yes, we are saved by grace through faith. It is simple, God's grace tells you what you should do about sin and true faith obeys the instruction and that is how you are saved. The wages of sin is death for anyone who practices sin. It has always been repentance for forgiveness of sin. Again, which grace are you trusting in? Only the grace of God can save you, because it instructs you to turn away from sin, which is the only thing separating you from God and Heaven. This is unmerited favor!
